Its time to talk about the Council Budget

posted 6 Sep 2013, 07:48 by Brenda Elson   [ updated 6 Sep 2013, 07:58 ]

http://www.kirkleestalk.org/       To prepare for the budget discussions that the Council will be having in October and November we would like to invite you to visit our budget engagement website at www.kirkleestalk.org – as Kirklees Council is preparing to make some very difficult decisions about our services in the future and we need to talk about it.  Please watch the video which outlines the services the the council currently provides and take part in completing the budget challenge activity on the website.

If you have any difficulties viewing this email or its content, please don’t hesitate to drop us an email at consultation@kirklees.gov.uk.

Some additional background information for you

Local Councillors will soon decide how much money to spend on your services next year. To help Councillors do this we need to know what’s important to you and other people living and working in Kirklees.   This isn’t easy. There are lots of priorities and all are important. You will have tough decisions to make, just like our Councillors when they set next year’s budget.

What’s happened so far?

We began It’s Time To Talk in May to help us explore very different ways of getting things done with much less money. Our conversations included nine open events, dozens of smaller sessions with local groups and communities, and discussions online.

We talked about how we can work together and what kind of things you’d like some help with. You can read some of the event feedback on our Themes from our conversations so far page. This first stage of the conversation has also helped us to develop our Seven principles of budget planning.
